Closed Shackle Padlocks
This type of padlock is designed to expose as little of the shackle as possible and therefore make it more difficult to attack with bolt-cutters and saws. Many insurance companies require you have a closed shackle.
It is important to remember that both Discus and Shutter Padlocks are also classified as 'closed-shackle' since they're design automatically affords them this status. You should check with your insurance company however since their definition of 'closed-shackle' may vary. We have more information on in our Insurance Advice Section.
Closed Shackle Brass Padlock

High Security Closed Shackle Granit Plus Padlocks

The shackle and body are made from hardened alloy steel and these closed shackle versions are insurance approved up to CEN Grade 5. Closed Shackle Heavy Duty Combination Padlock
This closed shackle version of our Squire resettable combination padlock is great when you need a high security option but with the convenience of a combination. A die cast corrosion resistant body make it perfectly suitable for regular outdoor use. The closed shackle give it additional protection against bolt cropping and saw attacked which is often a requirement of insurance companies.
Diskus Padlocks
Even as the entry level ABUS Diskus Padlock it is of a higher quality and security rating than almost every other brands on the market. A stainless steel case and weatherproof internal components make it highly resistant to corrosion and a hardened steel shackle is strong enough to resist force attacks. Available in two sizes.
Combination Shutter Padlock (Straight Shackle)
A straight shackle combination padlock made from solid brass and covered with a protective plastic casing for added impact resistance and weatherproofing. Although it is often known as a shutter lock it can be used in any situation and affords the higher security of a "closed-shackle" design.
